Monday morning at the office started off with an email from a reader, who spotted an error in our review of the Chevy Silverado 2500HD.

After a few moments on the GM press website I immediately realized, where the error originated and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our readers.

In the story, we mentioned in the headline and body copy that the 2500 HD had a towing capacity of 17,000 pounds at the hitch and 21,700 at the 5th wheel. We inadvertently listed the specs for the 3500, which I'm told is easy to do and it's something that is being fixed so that the specs of the 2500 and 3500 don't get mixed up again.

Here is the correct information directly from GM's Richard James:
"As there are many common features between the 2500 and 3500 series trucks, much of the verbiage in the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD press release is common to both. However, "towing capacity of 21,700 pounds" refers to a 3500 series dually with the 6.6 liter diesel and fifth wheel. Maximum conventional (ball hitch) towing on a 3500 series dually with the 6.6. liter diesel is 17,000 lbs. Maximum conventional (ball hitch) towing on a 2500 series with the 6.6 liter diesel is 13,000 lbs."
