Behind the scenes of every magazine is a dedicated group of creative people, who give the magazine a particular graphic look and style. In my mind these individuals don't always see the recognition they deserve.
After each new issue of RV is completed and out the door and onto newsstands across the country, we spend a long lunch discussing the magazine in detail; what worked and what could be improved upon the next time. It's a great way to get feedback from those deeply involved in the content.
It's also a great way for us to get to know each other better on a human level, and to develop new ways to entertain our readership. A fattening desert loaded with calories always does the trick!
Pictured here with me at Lucille's Barbecue are (left to right) Chris Pasley, Tris Mast, and Brad Crowder, who were creatively responsible for the Spring 2011 issue of RV. Each art director lends a certain skill to the layouts of feature stories and technical reviews that comes from years of honing their craft in publishing and elsewhere in the media and arts. Brad focused on the Spring 2011 cover art and final finishing work, while Chris and Tris picked up the technical how-to stories as well as the great travel layouts of the issue.
