RV magazine’s Midwest correspondent Mark Quasius returned from the 2010 Louisville RVIA show with some good news. He reports that several of the most prominent builders and suppliers are positioning their companies to go green in 2011 by introducing eco-safe products. This new way of thinking might entice buyers that were once on the fence about RV's in general.
The biggest splash in that regard came from Evergreen that introduced the Element trailer in Louisville. The Element is a sleek and stylish lightweight trailer that uses completely wood-free composite paneling. Mark will be following up with Evergreen about their new trailer and we should have an in-depth look in print soon.
Earthbound RV is another company that is using lightweight composites in their vehicles. They are a relatively new company headed by Dave Hoefer, who was also the guy behind Dutchman. Mark tells us that the interiors of the Earthbound are very high tech and the fit and finish is amazing. In fact, the composite floor is used by Mercedes Benz too is supported by aluminum tubing to keep the weight low. Their trailer offers a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty and it can be pulled by an average family car.
Speaking of better news for the environment, Efoy has come out with a new fuel cell generator that can run on a gallon jug of methanol for one week. Efoy expects to have their dealers arranged by the spring of 2011 and the product in retail outlets by the summer. It won’t be cheap, Mark says, but it will be extremely quiet and efficient.
