Speaking with Corsa

If you’re looking for performance exhaust systems for your tow rig, you will be happy to learn that Corsa is coming out with some exciting new products that will help cut down on exhaust noise, while retaining the performance aspect you desire.

I spoke with Jeffrey Rizzen of Corsa in Las Vegas at the 2009 SEMA Show and learned a thing or two about exhaust systems for tow vehicles. “Corsa started out in the marine market and we evolved into trucks, selling mostly through the GM dealership network, Rizzen said. We actually have two segments to our business; the Corsa high end exhaust systems and the dB line, which are cat-back systems that are applicable to tow rigs like the Ford F150 and Dodge Ram.” Jeffrey pointed out that what makes Corsa unique for today’s market is the baffling or reflective sound cancellation technologies of their products. In a nutshell, it tunes the exhaust units to cancel out unwanted frequencies getting into the cab of the truck. If you’re ever installed a typical aftermarket exhaust system, you’ll know what I’m referring to. According to Jeffrey, each system is acoustically engineered to eliminate the specific frequencies that create drone. By using aerospace-based technology, the sound waves are targeted, reflected and eliminated without impeding airflow or sacrificing horsepower, yet still delivering the sound to fit your vehicle. “When we produce these exhaust system we are looking for the most dominate frequency and basically we are canceling it out through our muffler. We eliminate the unwanted noises that enter the cab through a series of specifically designed channels inside the muffler. In the most simplified terms we do geometrically was Bose (stereo system) do electronically,” said Rizzen. Corsa is cleaning up the noise so that drivers and their passengers can enjoy a good conversation inside the cab. To learn more visit them at www.corsaperformance.com.
